To keep your door running smoothly as long as possible, Portes Garex recommends the following maintenance program. You may also hire a qualified installer for this annual check-up. |
|
| For the surface of your door: |
|
| |
Clean your door at least once a year with mild soap and a car brush. |
| |
Avoid cleaners that are too strong and may ruin the paint. |
| |
Apply a coat of car wax to your door for a lustrous shine and easier maintenance. |
|
| For the weatherstrip along the frame and between the panels: |
|
| |
Wash with mild soap to preserve their appearance and flexibility.
|
| |
Lubricate around twice a year with a silicone lubricant (Important: never use a petroleum-based lubricant). |
|
| For the hardware components: |
|
| |
Lubricate all moving parts, such as rollers, hinges, pulleys, springs, and locking mechanism, twice a year with motor oil (e.g., 10W30). |
| |
Check solidity of hinges, rollers, bolts, and rail brackets. |
| |
If you notice anything unusual, immediately contact a specialist in garage door maintenance and installation. |
|
| For the electrical operator: |
|
| |
Check once every three months. |
| |
Operate the door manually. The garage door should be perfectly balanced. If unbalanced or if too much effort is needed, immediately contact a specialist in garage door maintenance and installation. |
| |
Check the different safety detectors. The garage door should automatically reverse its movement if an object or person is in its way. If you notice anything unusual, immediately contact a specialist in garage door maintenance and installation. |
|
| Important message: |
|
It is important to carry out the recommended maintenance for smooth operation of your garage door over many years. You may also hire a qualified installer for an annual check-up.
Remember, never try to adjust the springs, bottom hinges, or hoisting cables by yourself. Your safety will be in jeopardy. Instead, consult a qualified Portes Garex installer. |
